Puerta de Alcalá

Without a doubt, Puerta de Alcalá is one of the most emblematic places in the city. At sunset, the colours of the sky contrast with the stone walls to create an unforgettable image. In addition, when it gets dark, the lights of the gate are switched on.

Temple of Debod

This is an Egyptian temple built in the 2nd century BC.  It was donated to Spain by the Egyptian government in appreciation for the help in rescuing the temples of the Nubian Valley, which were in danger of flooding as a result of the construction of the Aswan Dam.

This temple is probably the most popular place to watch the sunset in Madrid, and not surprisingly, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the capital.

The Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is a must on this list of the best places to watch the sunset in Madrid. It was built in the 9th century and is the official residence of the King of Spain, although the current King and Queen do not live here, but in the Zarzuela Palace.

Being able to enjoy the sunset next to a historic building like the Royal Palace, the viewpoint of the cornice of the Royal Palace or in its gardens (Campo del Moro and Sabatini) is priceless.

Moncloa Lighthouse

This tower was built in 1992, when the city was designated European Capital of Culture.

Cerro del Tío Pío

This park is located in Vallecas and is also known as Parque de las Siete Tetas (park of the seven “boobs”) , named after the seven hills that form it.

This is the place to go if you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in Madrid. From its height you will be able to see incredible views of buildings such as the Kio Towers, the Cuatro Torres Business Area, the famous television tower Torrespaña…
